“Obamacare” scams target local consumers
Daily News Staff Report
Scammers are exploiting the Affordable Care Act (ACA) as a way to fool Americans into sharing their personal information, according to local Better Business Bureau (BBB) President Carmen Million. Many key provisions of the ACA became effective on Oct. 1 and the BBB is warning consumers of a scam that feeds off of consumer confusion about the new health care laws.
Million said that people 65 years or older, people with disabilities and owners of small businesses are the most likely targets.
