LA woman charged with theft

By REBECCA CHAISSON Daily News Editor A Lake Arthur woman was arrested for felony theft this week after her employer noticed discrepancies in bank deposits. Elizabeth Lavergne was arrested Tuesday morning and ultimately admitted to taking over $5,000 from the unsuspecting business.

City announces Christmas events

By SHEILA SMITH Assistant Editor Jennings will welcome the Christmas season next weekend with the city’s annual parade, gumbo cook-off and fireworks show at the Louisiana Oil and Gas Park. Michelle Hebert, the city’s project coordinator, said the young as well as young at heart would definitely enjoy this year’s events.
