Dogs advance to bi-district

Captains: Seniors Brance Baca White, Ian “Mascot” Ray, Ronnie Courville and Malik Williams.
Coin Toss: Jennings won the toss for only the third time this season. They deferred and received the second half kickoff.
Game Ball: The game ball goes to the seniors, Brance Baca White, Ian “Mascot” Ray, Ravon Levi, David Reed, Ronnie Courville, Malik Williams, D’quann Ason, Bryan Wilridge, Jamal Boutte, Clyde Ned, Jimmy “Big Baby” Lewis, Wilbert Guillory, and Chayden Cormier, for winning their last regular season game on Senior Night.
Big Play: The Maroon Wall stopped the Rams on fourth down late in the third quarter while nursing a 27-14 lead. The Dogs scored on their next two possessions.
Big Hit: Wilbert Guillory put a big hit on Ram running back Keilynn Fradieu in the second half.
Longest Drive: The Bulldogs longest drive was a three-play, 65-yard scoring drive. Bryan Wilridge took a Kaleb Chaisson pass 61 yards to the house.
Longest Run: Freshman Travis Etienne had a 52-yard run good for a touchdown.
Longest Pass: Bryan Wilridge and Kaleb Chaisson teamed up on a 61-yard scoring play.
Turnovers: Jennings lost a fumble and had a pass intercepted while the Rams did not turn the ball over. The Dogs finish the regular season plus-four in the turnover battle this season.
Penalties: Jennings was penalized eight times for 62 yards and the Rams were flagged 10 times for 86 yards.
Wheres Momma? The Dogs were penalized 15 yards on the kickoff after an official ran into a camera man on the Rams’ sideline on their first touchdown run. I doubt my dear Mother would believe that one.
First Downs: Jennings had 16 first downs and held Westlake to six first downs.
Third Down Conversions: Jennings was six of 10 on third down while the Rams were two for 11.
Champions: The Bulldogs won the district title outright for the first time since 2002.
Old Dog: Frank Cormier
Old Bulldette: Betty Cormier, who played basketball for Mrs. Jeanette Gaudet when they used six players and no one could cross half court. Honored: Our heroes (veterans) were recognized and honored before the game.
Huge Thanks: A great big, huge thanks to our veterans. Those who paid the ultimate price, those who served and those serving this great country now. Thank you for our freedom.
Finally: Leading rusher in Bulldog history Ken Cormier had his jersey re-retired at halftime.
Good to see You: Carl Langley, former Jennings Daily News Sports Editor, took in the game. It was good to see Mr. Langley. He covered JHS sports back in my day and lots more.
Series: Jennings leads the series 27-18-3.
Streaks: The Dogs have won their last six games and finished the season with a five-game district winning streak.
Taste of the Town: We were treated with Cormier’s Specialty brisket and goodies. The food was great as usual. Thanks to principal Ben Oustalet
On Deck: Jennings will open the playoffs when they entertain Jena Friday night in Jerry Simmons Stadium.
Special Night: The seniors and our veterans were honored before the game.
Coaching Tree: Former Bulldog assistant coach John Richardson and his Welsh Greyhounds won Friday night.
Week 10, 1936: Jennings Bulldogs 44, Catholic High Bears 7
Week 10, 1963: Jennings Bulldogs 20, Oakdale Warriors 7. George Wolfe and Nicky Pizzolatto connected on two touchdown passes of 66 and 21 yards. Jimmy Precht scored on a 59-yard dash.
Week 10, 1988: Jennings Bulldogs 0, Washington Marion 32
Week 10, 1998: Jennings Bulldogs 28, Washington Marion 12. Des Alexander had two scoring runs of two yards. Clarence Matthews added a five-yard rushing touchdown and Beau Hearod scored on a 23-yard run. Jon Myers gained 53 yards on 15 carries. Hearod was 13 of 19 thru the air for 155 yards.
Week 10, 2003: Jennings Bulldogs 15, Huntington 48. Chris Richard returned a fumble 65 yards for a touchdown and Kenneth Charles scored on a 27-yard pass play.
