Emery Leo Dugas
LAKE ARTHUR – A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Mr. Emery Leo Dugas, 77, today, Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Msgr. Ronald Groth officiating.
Burial will be in Shell Beach Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur.
Visitation hours were held from 2:30-9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, and will continue today, Tuesday, from 8 a.m. until the time of services. A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. on Monday evening.
Mr. Dugas died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at 2:45 p.m. in Jennings American Legion Hospital.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Gueydan and was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Mr. Dugas was employed by Lake Arthur Rice Dryer and he enjoyed doing small engine repairs, gardening and yard work.
Mr. Dugas is survived by his wife, Leita Merle Guidry Dugas; a son, Dwayne Dugas of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Shirlene (Alex) Broussard of Gueydan; and a brother, Michael (Laura) Dugas of Winnie, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Flavia Cormier Dugas; a son, Darrell Dugas; a sister, Doris Melancon; and a brother, Rufus Dugas Jr.
Pallbearers will be Alex Broussard Jr., Ronald Broussard, Derek LeMaire, Gregory Guidry, Buck Guidry and Jonathan Guidry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Granger, Donald Woods, Collette Hoffpauir, Aldus Hebert and Anthony Guidry.
