Funeral Services for Melanie Jeanne Newman, 42, will be held on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings. Rev. Charles McMillin will officiate. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today, Sunday, Dec. 1. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Jennings.
The family requests visiting hours be held today, Sunday, Dec. 1, from 2:30-9 p.m., and Monday, Dec. 2, from 8 a.m. until time of services.
Melanie entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at 5:51 p.m. at Jennings American Legion Hospital.
Melanie loved her family. She loved reading, music, fishing, shrimping and going crabbing.
She is survived by her companion of 17 years, Cordell LeJeune; two sons, Joshua Newman and Hunter LeJeune, both of Jennings; her mother and stepfather, Renee (Merrill) Smith of Jennings; three sisters, Tracey (Myles) Regan and Brandie (Bryan)Mack, both of Jennings, and Nicole (Chris) Cole of Kinder; her uncle, Robert Fruge of Hathaway; her sister-in-law, Annette Demolle of Jennings; her godchildren, Wyatt Cole, Alyssa Regan and McKena Landry; two special nieces, Morgan Mack and Kamryn Cole; numerous nieces and nephews; and her extended family, Linda LeBlanc, Tommy Harelson and Rachella Negy.
Melanie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leon and Isabelle Fruge; her father, James Boles; a sister-in-law, Pamela Landry; and her godmother and godfather, Eula and Leonard Fruge.
Carrying Melanie to her final resting place will be Brent Fruge, Bryan Mack, Joshua Newman, Terry Landry, David and Ronnie LeJeune and Wendell Fruge.
