Shirleen Mary Istre
The family and friends of Shirleen Mary Istre are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on Nov. 11, 2013, while in the comfort of her home in Jennings. She was 70.
Funeral services will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. with Father Randall Moreau officiating. Burial will follow in LeBlanc Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Visiting hours will resume on Wednesday at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass.
Shirleen was born in Mermentau to Eddie Anthony Istre and Olite Viator Istre on Dec. 1, 1942.
She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She enjoyed playing on the computer, playing bingo, and she loved “cleaning house”.
Shirleen is survived by her four sons, Douglas Dupre of Jennings, Wayne (Berit) Dupre of Jennings, Albert (Lisa) Dupre of Splendore, Texas, and Louis (Lynn Crochet) Dupre of Jennings; three daughters, Shelia (Richard) Bouley of Jennings, Gertrude (Willis) Istre of Estherwood, and Gwen Dupre of Lake Charles; four brothers, Glenn (Ann) Istre of Gueydan, Charlie (Melissa) Istre of Lake Arthur, Raymond Istre of Jennings, and Alvin (Dubie) Istre of Abbeville; three sisters, Shirley (John) Young of Jennings, Eva Dale (Joey) Sonnier of Elton, and Irana Martin of Jennings; 19 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.
Shirleen was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Anthony Istre and Olite Viator Istre.
