Note to drug dealers: Don’t fall asleep on the job.

A Sulphur man learned this lesson the hard way when he fell asleep at the wheel of his vehicle while parked at a local business.

Jennings Police Department (JPD) Deputy Chief Danny Semmes said police were notified of the vehicle and made contact with the weary traveler.

The subject, later identified as Kevin Trent Portie, age 31, of Sulphur, didn’t appear happy to see police. Meanwhile, police weren’t happy to see drug paraphernalia or a small caliber pistol in plain view.
