The Jennings Bulldogs faced the Sam Houston Broncos in the opening round of the Bronco Tournament Wednesday, with the Bulldogs outlasting the Broncos, 48-43, to improve to 5-3 on the year. The Bulldogs face Sulphur at 4 p.m. today and Acadiana at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Then on Monday, Dec. 16, both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs travel to Lacassine to face the Cardinals.

The Bulldogs scored a bucket with Dwayne Levi Jr. nailing one inside to get the game going, building a 7-3 advantage midway through the first quarter thanks to a pair of free-throws by Draylan Perkins and a layup by Micah West. The Bulldogs led the Broncos at the end of the first quarter, 9-6.
