Dogs split contests in Teurlings

The Jennings Bulldogs faced West St. Mary in the opening round of the Teurlings Catholic Tournament Wednesday. The Bulldogs got past the Wolf Pack, 60-58, thanks to a layup and a free-throw with 3.8 seconds remaining by Dwayne Levi Jr. The Bulldogs trailed 57-58 before the shot. The Bulldogs improved to 4-1 on the year with the Wednesday win. Then on Thursday in quarterfinal action, Jennings lost to Northside, 75-41, and was scheduled to play the loser of the Opelousas Catholic/Teurlings Catholic contest at noon Saturday.

In first quarter action, the Wolf Pack got out to a fast start by shooting lights out beyond the arc. But the Bulldogs battled inside with Dwayne Levi Jr having the hot hand. The Bulldogs trailed 12-6 towards the end of the first quarter. A late push by Draylan Perkins and Levi got the Bulldogs back in the game to cut the deficit from six points to two in a matter of two minutes.
