Jennings to rename street for Marcus Cain

Assistant Editor

The Jennings City Council is considering renaming Doyle Street in honor of late American hero and resident U.S. Army Cpl. Marcus Cain.

Doyle Street is where Cain was born and raised and where his family lives still. On Sept. 14, 2006, at the age of 20, Cain was killed in Baghdad, Iraq, as he was refilling a tanker truck. An unidentified type of roadside bomb had been placed near the truck.

Cain served in the 4th Infantry Division’s 4th Support Battalion out of Fort Hood, Texas. His parents are Bennie and Leroy Cain, Jr.
