Travelers arrested for passing up Jennings

Last Friday, the Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Office went on a special search to seek out the “criminals” who pass up Jennings on the interstate without even thinking about stopping to say hello and enjoy some of the city’s food and attractions. Led by the Optimist Club and Commander Bill Kettler, this hunt sought to deliver cold, hard justice to its targets in the form of some warm hospitality, good Cajun cuisine, gifts from Jennings’ finest businesses, and a fun time for all. It was the Optimist Club’s annual mock-arrest, and this year it seized Houston residents Carlton Miller and Sandra Carpenter to face trial and pay the consequences for skipping over Jennings on their way home from vacationing in New Orleans.
