Voters could decide on jail tax in May

A bonding attorney informed the Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) Police Jury Wednesday that an additional half cent would put the parish at its sales tax limit.

Jurors are hoping to put a half cent sales tax on the May ballot. The tax, which police jury President Donald Woods said could bring in $2.2 million annually, would help fund the operations and maintenance of a new parish jail.
