LAKE ARTHUR – A Mass of Christian burial was held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, for Viola Nolan, 78, who died on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014.
A gathering of family and friends was held on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Her visitation resumed today, Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, from 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass. Viola was laid to rest in Andrus Cove Cemetery with Reverend Emanuel Tanu officiating her service Mass.
Viola was a homemaker and devoted her life to raising her six beautiful children. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a very fun-loving person and enjoyed making people laugh. She will be truly missed by all who know and loved her.
She is survived by her son David (Belinda) Nolan of Iowa; five daughters, Debbie (Bill) Richardson of Deville, Susie (Sandy) Childers of Lake Charles, Cheryl Holland of Katy, Texas, Catherine (Norris “Bam”) Autin of Bell City and Stefanie Conner of Katy, Texas; one sister, Lou Ella (Carlton) Istre of Jennings; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren with one on the way.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, Arcade and Amelie Broussard Cormier; her first husband, A.J. Royer; her second husband, Nelson Nolan; four brothers; and seven sisters.
Carrying Mrs. Viola to her eternal resting place were Dwayne Nolan, Brent Nunez, Skyler Conner, Derrick Nolan, Logan Autin and Chris Hay.
