James A. Rabalais
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for James A. Rabalais Sr., 78, who died on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at 6:20 p.m. at Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings.
He proudly served over 30 years in the US Navy as a Sea Bee. He retired and taught heavy equipment operation at a junior college in Mississippi. After he retired from this, he moved back to Louisiana to be with his family.
Deacon Tom Sommers will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours begin on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and continue on Friday from 8 a.m. to services time. A rosary will be recited Thursday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Rabalais is survived by one daughter, Mary R. (Joe) Baudoin of Kaplan; four sons, Keith (Donna) Rabalais of Crowley, Wade Rabalais of Jackson, Miss., Eddie (Robyn) Rabalais of Hathaway, James A. (Janel) Rabalais Jr. of Baton Rouge; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy R. (Joe) Fontenot of Clayton, Ga., Cecile R. (W.C.) Chavers of Pineville; and one brother, Johnny (Carol) Rabalais of Nederland, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis H. and Euna Hebert Rabalais; one grandson, William “Billy” Rabalais, Jr.; and one brother, Francis Rabalais.
Pallbearers will be Eric Rabalais, Joshua Benoit, Michael Rabalais, Jeremy Rabalais, Bryce Rabalais and Corey Rabalais.
