A Mass of Christian burial for Amy Gotte, 88, of Gott’s Cove, will be held at St. Jules Catholic Church in Evangeline on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. Father David Broussard will officiate.
Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Friday, March 14, 2014, from 2:30-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. by Father David Broussard. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral Mass. Mrs. Amy will be laid to rest in St. Jules (Tee-Mamou) Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home.
Mrs. Amy was born in Iota on Dec. 22, 1925, to the late Lawrence Fruge Sr. and the late Sylvania Hebert Fruge. She was called to her Heavenly Father on March 13, 2014. Mrs. Amy was a member of St. Jules Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She loved gardening, sewing and cooking for her family. Mrs. Amy loved doing things for others and loved praying.
Mrs. Amy is survived by one son, Randy (Liz) Gotte of Evangeline; one daughter, Mary (Ronnie) Fruge of Evangeline; and two brothers, Lawrence Fruge Jr. of Hathaway and John Ludren (Pat) Fruge of Baton Rouge. Mrs. Amy also leaves behind to cherish her memories, 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Amy was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Sylvania Fruge; her husband, Louis Cyrus Gotte Sr.; two sons, Louis Cyrus “L.C.” Gotte Jr. and J.R. Gotte; one daughter, Yvonne Ravey; one brother, J.U. Fruge; and two sisters, Lucy Quebodeaux and Eula Mae Young.
Carrying Mrs. Amy to her final resting place will be Randy Gotte, Josh Gotte, Kevin Gotte, Brad Fruge, James Gotte and Wayne Fruge.
Honorary pallbearer will be Brandon Fruge.
