A Mass of Christian burial for Mr. James “Jim” Credeur, 80, of Jennings, will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 10 a.m. with Father Charles McMillin officiating.
The Credeur family requests that visitation be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Wednesday, March 19, 2014, from 2:30-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 8 a.m. until the time of his services. Mr. Jim will be laid to rest in Bertrand Cemetery with full military rites.
Mr. Jim passed away on March 17, 2014, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Pine Island on Jan. 16, 1934, to the late Leonce Credeur and the late Meta Credeur.
Mr. Jim served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a retired barge inspector. Mr. Jim had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed baling hay, trapping, gardening and fishing in his pond. He was a devoted member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. He enjoyed visiting and drinking coffee with his friends and family. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Jim loved playing on the floor with his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Loretta Sensat Credeur of Jennings; one son, Daniel James “Jimmy” (Tracey) Credeur of Jennings; one daughter, Chandra (Jerry) Broussard of Jennings; one brother, Charles Credeur of Jennings; and one sister, Elaine Babineaux of Jennings. He also leaves behind to cherish his memories, five grandchildren, Misti (Paul) Robinson, Christopher Broussard, Courtney Broussard, Jacob Doucet and Weston Credeur; and one great-grandchild, Dylan Robinson.
Mr. Credeur was preceded in death by his parents, Leonce and Meta Credeur; and his two brothers, Allen Credeur and Sam Credeur.
