Funeral services for Wilford Barker, 73, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, in David J. and Rosa Fondel Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary in Jennings. Rev. Dwight Barker, will officiate. Burial will be in Silverwood Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Army squad from Fort Polk, under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings.
Visitation will be held in the chapel from 9 a.m Tuesday, March 18, until the time of services. Military honors in the chapel will be at 10:45 a.m. by Jennings American Legion Post #19 .
Mr. Barker entered into eternal rest on March 10 in a Crowley care center. He was a native of Silverwood and he served in the U.S. Army where he received an honorary discharge.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Murphy Lewis and two grandchildren, all of Jennings; three sisters, Mrs. Gloria Broussard of Silverwood, Nora Villery of Lake Charles and Thelma (Cliff) Hilliard of Calif.; two brothers, Leroy Barker of Port Acres, Texas, and Leo Barker of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
