Richard Louis Shaw Sr.
Funeral services for Richard Louis Shaw Sr., 77, of Pine Island, will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 1 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Hathaway. Deacon Mike Tramel will officiate his service.
The Shaw family requests visitation to be held today, Friday, May 2, 2014, from 4:30-9 p.m. at Matthews and Son Fineral Home. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Mike Tramel at 7 p.m. on Friday. Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral services at 1 p.m. Richard will be laid to rest in Raymond-Hathaway Community Cemetery.
Richard passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2014, while surrounded by his beloved family.
He was born in Roanoke to the late Everett Clement Shaw and the late Eula Mary Kratzer Shaw on May 24, 1936. Richard was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree. He was active in his community and a member of Farm Bureau and Jeff Davis Farmers Coop. He was an avid LSU fan and loved baseball, especially the New York Yankees. He loved hunting, farming and helping his kids raise livestock animals for show. Richard will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Ann LeDoux Shaw of Jennings; his two sons, Richard (Gina) Shaw Jr. of Lake Charles and David (Terri) Shaw of Moss Bluff; his two daughters, Stacy Shaw (Danny) Manuel of Kinder and Pam Shaw (Robert) Cooley of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, Everette Ray Shaw of Lake Charles; and one sister, Linda Shaw (John) Knight of Pine Island; He also leaves behind to cherish in his memory, 12 beloved grandchildren, Colby Manuel, Jacob Manuel, Justin Shaw, Courtney Shaw, Mallory Fontenot, Taryn Shaw, Madison Daigle, Brandon Cooley, Zachary Cooley, Nichole Simmons, Erik Shaw and Morgan Shaw; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Eula Mary Shaw; his beloved son, Matthew Neal Shaw; and one granddaughter, Haleigh Shaw.
Carrying Richard to his eternal rest place will be Colby Manuel, Jacob Manuel, Justin Shaw, Brandon Cooley, Zachary Cooley and Taryn Shaw.
