Youth baseball busy over holidays

While many people will be celebrating our country’s birthday, the Jennings Parks and Recreation Department will be busy. Recreation Director Brian Benoit and his staff will be hosting an All-Star tournament. The Recreation Department will be the site of the Pony Baseball Section II Tournament Mustang 10 and under. The tourney begins Thursday, July 3, at 6 p.m. Host Jennings will be joined by the Rayne Nationals, Rayne Americans, SLYAA (Opelousas) and Iowa. The tourney kicks off with the Rayne Nationals and SLYAA battling at 6 p.m., while the second game of the night pits the Rayne Americans against Iowa. The host received a bye and will play Friday night at 6 p.m.  The tournament will continue through Monday with the first and second place teams advancing to the Mustang 10 and under Super Region Tournament in Erath beginning Friday, July 11.
