Liza D. Louvier
A Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Liza Louvier, 94, of Evangeline, will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Evangeline on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. with Father Charles McMillin officiating her services.
Mrs. Liza passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Sunday, August 31, 2014, from 2-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral Mass. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home.
Liza was born in Acadia Parish to the late Pierre Deshotel and the late Melanie LeJeune Deshotel on October 29, 1919. She was a homemaker and devoted herself to taking care and spending time with her family. Liza loved visiting and drinking coffee with family and friends. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Liza never met a stranger. She also enjoyed going to the casino. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Liza is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Emery Louvier of Evangeline; two daughters, Charlene (Bryan) Gotte of Jennings and Pam (Keith) Daigle of Evangeline; one brother, Jimmy Thibodeaux of Jennings; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 20 great great-grandchildren; and one great great great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by parents, Pierre and Melanie Deshotel; one daughter, Joyce Dean; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and a special niece, Thelma Ritter.
Carrying Mrs. Liza to her eternal resting place will be Keith Daigle, Tran Daigle, Joey Edalgo, Matthew Edalgo, Robbie Fontenot and Chance Benoit.
