Woods to be first JDP athlete to attend NFL Combine

ELTON – Elton native and Louisiana State University (LSU) standout defensive end Al Woods is about to embark on a journey that no other athlete from Jeff Davis Parish has ever taken. Woods has received an invitation from the National Football League (NFL) to participate in the upcoming NFL Combine, which will take place in Indianapolis, Ind., starting on Wednesday, Feb. 24 and running through Tuesday, March 2.The NFL Combine is where the best of the best of draft candidates go to run through drills, lift weights and interview with teams. LSU has more players invited to the NFL Combine than any other team in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). If Woods performs well at the combine, he has a good chance at being drafted by an NFL team.
