Football season kicks off

All four high school football teams in the parish open their seasons with area jamborees tonight. Jennings will travel to Sulphur to take on Sam Houston at 7 p.m., while Welsh, Lake Arthur and Elton will clash in the Jeff Davis Parish Jamboree beginning at 6 p.m. at Welsh High School.

LSP holds dedication ceremony for Vincent

A section of La. 14 between La. 27 and Lognion Road was recently dedicated to fallen LSP Senior Trooper Steven Vincent. Vincent’s family was in attendance, along with law enforcement agencies, LSP Superintendent Colonel Mike Edmonson, Senator Dan “Blade” Morrish, Senator Ronnie Johns and Former Speaker of the House Speaker Chuck Kleckley.
