Couple celebrates 50 years of marriage

LeRoy and Cathy Hanks of Lake Arthur celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at 12:30 p.m. March 10, 2013, at the Lake Arthur Community Center.

The event was hosted by the couple’s children and their spouses, including Angie H. Hebert and husband Warren, Scottie Hanks and wife Rachelle and Robert Hanks and wife Adrienne.

The couple also has eight grandchildren, including Shanna and Lauren Hebert, Kylie and Gavin Hanks, Kenzie, Kane and Kye Hanks and Cassidy Hebert.

Goodreaus celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence “Brownie” (Emma Jean Gandy) Goodreau of Jennings celebrated 50 years of marriage with family and friends on Feb. 2, 2013. The event was hosted by their two sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan (Heather Lynn) Goodreau of Jennings and Mr. and Mrs. Brennan (Jolie) Goodreau of Mandeville.

The event took place at the Grand Marais Banquet room in Jennings.

Brownie and Emma Jean were married Feb. 2, 1963, in New Light Baptist Church in Mangham.

They have eight grandchildren.

Hyltons to celebrate 66th wedding anniversary

Afton Hylton of Roanoke and Kendolene Emerick of Parkersburg, West Virginia, were united on March 18, 1947, at the home of the groom’s parents in Roanoke. Officiating were Rev. Glenn Harris and his wife Ethel. The couple have three children: John Hylton (Julie Johnson Hylton) of Salem, Oregon; James Hylton of Welsh; and Rebecca Hylton of Baton Rouge. They have been blessed with one grandchild, Jennifer Hylton Hays (Spencer Hays) of Seattle, Washington.

Reagans celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Harold “Tiny” (Esther Royer) Regan of Jennings celebrated 50 years of marriage with family and friends on Feb. 16, 2013, with a renewal of wedding vows by the Rev. Anthony Fontenot.

The event was hosted by their daughters and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Les (Tyra) Landry of Kingwood, Texas, and Ursula Roe of Jennings.

Tiny and Esther were married Feb. 23, 1963, in St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Pine Island.

They have one son, Gavin Regan of Kerrville, Texas, and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Wedding Anniversary Celebrated

Alexander and Essie Mae Prudhomme of Welsh celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the Welsh Knights of Columbus Hall. Hosts for the event were the couple’s children, Francis Victoria, Bernadine Cummins, Alexander Prudhomme III and Michael Prudhomme, all of Welsh, Larry James Prudhomme of LeBleu Settlement and Alicia Jenkins and Lisa Matthews, both of Houston, Texas.

The couple married on Jan. 27, 1946, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Welsh.

Guidrys celebrate 75th wedding anniversary

Arista and Hazel Guidry of Tee Mamou celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary from 12-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at St. Joseph Family Living Center.

They married Dec. 18, 1937.

Hosts for the event were Margaret Smith, Kathleen Guidry, Celeste Guidry and Corieta Guidry.

The couple’s children include James E. Guidry of Evangeline and Donald L. Guidry and Thomas G. Guidry, both of Tee Mamou.

Arista said if he finds out the secret to such a long marriage, he’ll let us know.

Hazel said it takes hard work and never giving up on the marriage.

50th Anniversary Celebrated

J.C. and Cynthia Segar Suire recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on the shores of Lake Michigan in Traverse City, Mich., looking for valuable Petosky rocks. The Suires, married on Nov. 3, 1962, were both born in Jennings and are graduates of Jennings High School. They have three daughters, sons-in-law and three grandchildren. The Suires now reside in The Woodlands, Texas. (And they did find several valuable Petosky rocks.)

Martins Celebrate 50 Years of Marriage

M.J. and Yvonne Martin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 2, 2012, at a family camp on the Mermentau River. They were married on June 2, 1962, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau. They have lived in Andrus Cove 40-plus years. They have four children, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. They enjoyed over 75 family and friends who took time out of their day to help them celebrate this occasion.
