				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Thursday, officers, firefighters and emergency personnel from around the parish were honored by the community for National Law Enforcement Memorial Week.</p>
<p>Zeb Johnson made sure the men and women who protect and serve the community were taken care of by providing them with a free barbecue pork dinners all day Thursday. The meal was sponsored by and held at Miguez Funeral Home. Also, a Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony was held Thursday evening at Emergency Services Memorial Park to honor those, living and deceased, who risk their lives daily for the safety of all citizens</p>

<p>LAKE CHARLES &#8211; An Elton teen is dead and two others are critically injured after a two-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of La. 397 and La. 14 in Lake Charles Thursday morning.</p>
<p>According to Louisiana State Police Troop D Sgt. James Anderson, 18-year-old Kennedy Renee Isaac of Elton was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima around 7 a.m. Thursday when she failed to stop at a stop sign on Ward Line Road.</p>

<p>The Jennings High School (JHS) Class of 2013 sent off 117 new alumni out into the world Tuesday night at Jerry Simmons Stadium during the school’s 110th commencement exercise.</p>
<p>Friends and family were in attendance as graduating seniors began the next chapter of their lives.</p>
<p>The graduates selected maroon and white as their class colors, while picking red and white roses as their class flowers. The class motto was: “Life brings tears, smiles and memories. The tears dry, the smiles fade, but the memories last forever.” The class song was “Say Goodbye,” by Boyz II Men.</p>
