Granny Got Game: Local ladies bring home silver in national tourney

Aquadogs qualify for state meet

The Jennings Aquadogs Swim League (JASL) competed in the Louisiana District Championship Meet held in Baton Rouge over the weekend, with two of the eight Dogs competing against year-round swim teams qualifying for the state meet. All swimmers dropped time in each event.

Monceaux Tournament enjoys great success


By DYLAN BROSSETTE Daily News Sports Editor With the aid of 14 teams and dozens of local supporters, the Aaron Monceaux Benefit Softball Tournament in Lake Arthur raised $2,350 to assist the Lake Arthur High School senior’s family in paying his medical bills from an automobile accident in which he was involved in May.

Jennings Mustangs fall twice in All-Star Tourney

The Jennings Mustang All-Star Team took on the SLYAA Opelousas Sox in second round play of the Pony baseball Section II tournament after falling to the Crowley Americans 13-0 on Friday night. Jennings and Opelousas hosted a hitting festival for three hours Saturday, with SLYAA taking the victory 24-19 in six innings.

Mustang action heats up


RAYNE – Like a Wild West shootout, the Jennings Mustang All-Stars battled the Rayne Shockers on Sunday in a two and a half hour duel at noon in the Rayne Frog City Tune-Up Tournament. Despite three close innings of play, the Shockers scored 10 runs in the fourth inning to win 22-14.
