Watermelon fundraiser offers ‘pick of the patch’

Fresh from a field where 13,000 watermelons were sold last Friday alone, the Jennings Optimist Club picked up 100 melons from a Sugartown patch Saturday and set up their annual watermelon stand in Jennings. They sold out of melons in three days, and then returned to Sugartown for another batch on Wednesday.
