In addition to Jennings’ Stars and Stripes Festival on Friday, two other Jeff Davis Parish towns will be throwing their own celebrations for the Independence Day weekend.
The Town of Elton will be hosting its own festival and fireworks display on Friday, July 3. Town officials said festivities will kick off at 5 p.m. at the Elton Town Park with a DJ. Music will continue throughout the evening until 9 p.m. when the town will launch a fireworks display handled by Jeff Davis Parish Fire District 6. In addition to Jennings’ display the same night, the Elton fireworks will be the only legally-sanctioned fireworks display in the parish in light of last week’s burn ban for dry conditions. All non-municipal fireworks have been banned for at least 30 days.
