Jindal honors local vets

Gov. Bobby Jindal honored 160 local veterans for their service during a special ceremony at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home (SWLWVH) on Monday.Veterans received the new Louisiana Veterans’ Honor Medal, a new honor created by the Louisiana Legislature in 2008. Over 300,000 Louisiana veterans will receive the medal for their service in the armed forces. Louisiana is only the second state to create such an honor for its veterans. The SWLWVH was the first of the state’s veterans’ homes to conduct the ceremony.
