Veterans’ home to lose pharmacist in restructuring

As a cost-cutting measure, the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home (SWLWVH) will be losing a full-time pharmacist, contracting out that service in a way similar to traditional nursing homes.
The Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs (LDVA) made the announcement this week as part of a restructuring plan to streamline the department. SWLWVH will be joining the state’s other four homes in Jackson, Reserve, Monroe and Bossier City in facing similar cuts.
LDVA officials stressed that while the cut will save money, it will not compromise patient care.
