City asks to renew one cent sales tax

Jennings voters will be asked to renew one cent of the city’s two-cent sales tax in the spring of next year, according to Mayor Terry Duhon.
Duhon explained this week that the 25-year sales tax – which was last renewed in 1985 – will expire at the end of next year. City officials are moving now to place the tax renewal on the next election ballot, which will fall on March 27, 2010.
