JDSO, EPD conduct sobriety checkpoint

ELTON – The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office pulled over 171 motorists Friday as part of a Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Checkpoint funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC).
Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff Ricky Edwards reported that of the 171 vehicles stopped, seven drivers were given field sobriety tests. Of those seven, one motorist was arrested for DWI. One ticket was issued for driving with a suspended license and one ticket was issued for failure to yield.
