Christmas Eve storm wrecks parts of Acadiana

CROWLEY – It was a difficult Christmas for some Acadiana residents as tornadic activity on Thursday – Christmas Eve – took the life of one Lafayette Parish man and took the homes of several Acadia Parish residents.
The National Weather Service confirmed eight tornadoes on Christmas Eve, seven of which were in Acadia Parish. They included four north of Crowley, two near Iota and one near Church Point. In addition, a possible tornado also swept through Vermilion Parish in the Gueydan area of La. 91, trapping one person in a damaged building.
