Ronnie W. Batey Sr. (02-26-2010)
Photo of Ronnie W. Batey Sr. Funeral services for Mr. Ronnie Wayne Batey, Sr., 53, were held at 1 p.m. today, Feb. 23, 2010, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings, with Rev. Micky Istre officiating.
Mr. Batey was laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. Monday and continued from 10 a.m. until time of services today.
Mr. Batey passed away Friday evening, Feb. 19, 2010, at Jennings American Legion Hospital.
Ronnie Wayne was born in Wisner to Hugh and Sylvia Kimball Batey in the winter of 1956. He was self-employed as a freight truck driver and loved being on the open road. He was a wonderful person and very well-liked by everyone he encountered. He loved fishing, hunting, traveling and surfing the Internet. The most important thing in his life was his family. He will be greatly missed.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved parents, Hugh and Sylvia Batey of Jennings; his wife, Marie Brown Batey of Jennings; two children, Keith Alan (Mandi) Batey of Jennings and Pamela Darlene Batey of Lafayette; two brothers, Darrell (Cindy) Batey of Jennings and Gary (Benita) Batey of Sulphur; two sisters, Gwen (Les) Castle of Jennings and Kim (Roy) Hurt of Mermentau; four beautiful grandchildren, Dylan, Chloe, Hannah and Carleigh; and 16 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Wayne Batey Jr.
