James B. Kimball (02-27-2010)
Funeral services for Mr. James Barnett Kimball, 64, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home, with Minister Jimmy Sterling Shinn officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Abshire Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, and will continue from 8 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.
Mr. Kimball was called to his Heavenly Father early Tuesday morning, Feb. 23, 2010, from his home in Evangeline while surrounded by his beloved family.
James Barnett was born in Jennings to the late Stephen and Agnes Simar Kimball in January 1946. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, James worked as a yard supervisor for a petroleum company until his retirement. James was a very kind and compassionate person. He always put the needs and happiness of others ahead of his own.
He loved life and spending time with his family and friends. James also enjoyed fishing and working with his horses. He will be truly missed by everyone whose lives he has touched.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife and best friend, Ruby Monceaux Kimball of Evangeline; four daughters, Rhonda Janice Floyd of Crowley, Melissa Janice Myers of Gueydan, Dawn Kimball (Christopher) Murphy of Iota and Candra Kimball (Troy) Scott of Iota; two sisters, Onita Fruge of Jennings and Mary Negley of Lucas, Kan.; 18 beautiful grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Agnes Simar Kimball; one son, Stephen Douglas Kimball; one brother, Hebert “Butch” Kimball; and one sister, Peggy Cobb.
