Phelps excited with No. 6 ranking
The Associated Press released the Louisiana Sports Writers Association preseason high school football polls today, and the Jennings Bulldogs garnered 67 points for sixth place among Class 4A schools.
Jennings Head Football Coach Rusty Phelps told the Jennings Daily News this morning that he’s excited about the ranking, but now the Dogs must fight to keep their place among the top teams in their class. »


Tigers control line against Indians
WELSH – The Lake Arthur Tigers are priming for another winning season and left no doubt that they have the aces in the deck to do just that, as Coach Chad Lavergne’s team controlled almost the entire second half against Elton here Friday night in a 14-6 victory over a much improved Indian squad in the Jeff Davis Parish Football Jamboree.
Lake Arthur dominated possession and racked up 165 yards rushing with bruising back Trent Hargrave toting the skin for 92 yards of that total. »


Welsh ready for Bulldog challenge
WELSH – The Greyhounds expect to have their hands full Friday night when the visiting Jennings Bulldogs arrive in town for the Jeff Davis Parish Jamboree.
