Rachel Demeritt of Jennings and Arturo Perez of Laredo, Texas, were married at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, in Laredo, with Judge Danny Valdez officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Carla and Ronnie Demeritt of Jennings and the granddaughter of Bernice Touchet.
She is currently employed as a junior high teacher at Maplewood in Sulphur, and will granduate from McNeese State University in the spring of 2010 with a master’s degree in educational leadership.
The groom is the son of Raquel and Tojo Perez of Laredo and the grandson of Irma and Leonel San Miguel.
He earned an associate’s degree in political science and is currently employed with International Customs Broker Services (I.C.B.S.).
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a floor-length soft ivory chiffon gown over satin which fell softly from the bustline to form a brush train. The semi-sweetheart neckline featured a band at the bustline. She chose a fingertip-length, single layer veil of imported English illusion. She carried a bouquet of fresh ivory mixed flowers.
The bride’s mother wore a soft mint green chiffon gown embellished with silver trim, and she wore silver shoes.
The groom’s mother wore a two-piece dress with matching accessories.
Maid of honor was Tara Hebert of Lake Charles.
The newlyweds reside in Lake Charles.
