Keagan’s Center could become reality this year

Assistant Editor

ELTON – Approximately 75 children were treated to a free Easter event here Wednesday but the organization behind the party is well on its way to becoming a provider of free services to both the young and elderly.

Keagan’s Kitchen sponsored Wednesday’s event at the Elton Town Park, which included egg hunts and decorating, crafts, raw egg tosses, food and dancing. The Easter event was just another milestone since the Kitchen’s creation in early 2012. Last summer, the Kitchen served Saturday meals to hundreds of school-aged kids at Elton’s Beulah Davis Community Center, as well as shared Bible lessons and fun activities. Keagan’s Kitchen volunteers have also spent every Wednesday tutoring students of all ages from 3-4:30 p.m. at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church.
