Dogs Drop Decision to Notre Dame

Daily News photo by Amanda McCormick

The Bulldogs couldn’t capitalize on home-field advantage Tuesday, as visiting district foe Notre Dame got the best of their hosts by a 4-2 count. Notre Dame has now won both district meetings between the two teams, as they also claimed a 5-1 win against the Dogs last month. The loss dropped the Diamond Dogs to 3-4 in district play, with three critical league matchups remaining on Jennings’ regular season schedule. Jennings is set to host Westlake on Thursday, and the Dogs are hoping for success similar to what they saw in their last meeting when Jennings easily claimed a 12-2 road win. Two makeup contests also remain on Jennings’ district schedule, including a rescheduled rain-out between Crowley set for 3 p.m. this Saturday, April 20, and a make-up match against Iowa next Monday, April 22. The Dogs won their first district meeting against Crowley in a close one, 11-8 at home, but dropped their contest at Iowa in a 0-5 shutout.
