Alden Crochet

The family and friends of Alden Crochet are grieving for the loss of their loved one. Mr. Alden was called to his Heavenly Father on July 6, 2013, at 11:50 p.m. at Lafayette Regional Medical Center. He was 72 years old.

Funeral services were held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at 2 p.m. to honor his life. Mr. Alden was laid to rest in Bertrand Cemetery following his services. Reverend Charles McMillin officiated.

A gathering of family and friends was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Monday, July 8, 2013, from 2:30-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. by Mrs. Betty LeGros. Visitation resumed today, Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral services.

Alden was born in Roanoke to the late Avenia Breaux Crochet and the late Amelian Crochet on Aug. 23, 1940. He was a retired pipe fitter for Citgo. He loved to plant trees and enjoyed the outdoors. He especially loved hunting and fishing. Alden was a musician and played the accordian. Alden wrote and recorded several songs; amongst them were “It‘s Not Love”, “A Mistake I Can‘t forget“, and “Grand Marais Special”. He also loved to sing the song “Cajun Jambalaya” in French. He was a collector of antiques. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Alden is survived by his beloved wife of 52 wonderful years, Ruth Bergeaux Crochet of Jennings; one son, Chad (Andrea) Crochet of Hathaway; two daughters, Angela “Angie” C. (Ricky) Broussard of Jennings and Cheryl (Louie) Guillory of Roanoke; one brother, Percy (Lorita) Crochet of Jennings; four grandchildren, Steven Broussard, Maghon (Bradley) Conner, Tyler Guillory and Sarah Crochet; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylee Cormier and Emily Broussard.

Alden now rests in Heaven with his beloved family who preceded him in death: his parents, Amelian and Avenia Breaux Crochet; his two brothers, Richard and O’neal Crochet; and one sister, Pearl Koonce.

Carrying Alden to his eternal resting place were his son Chad Crochet, Ricky Broussard, Louie Guillory, Steven Broussard, Bradley Conner and Tyler Guillory.

Honorary pallbearers were Tony Bergeaux, Jim Miller and Curtis Crochet.
