Annual alumni tournament a big hit this year

Daily News Staff Writer

Jennings High School graduates once again returned to the Jennings Park and Recreation softball fields on Academy Avenue to enjoy some friendly competition, reunite with old friends, and raise money for their alma mater. The year of 2013 will be remembered for its many successes, according to tournament organizer Jeff Person, who reported that the weekend’s events raised $12,000 for Jennings High School athletics.

“The committee was happy with the great weather conditions as we had no rain, mild temperatures and a light breeze for pleasant playing conditions and the social activities that go along with the weekend,” said Person. “The committee also wanted to give special thanks to all the sponsors with their donations, JHS Quarterback Club for running the concession stand, JHS coaches for umpiring games, and J.J. Fuselier and Garrett Seilhan for providing music. Also a special thanks to Brian Benoit, the Parks and Recreation Director and his crew, who had the park in great shape and helped with set up, clean up and closing the parks.”
