Local Bronco team takes runner-up title in tourney

Daily News Sports Writer

Despite a heavy thunderstorm Friday afternoon, the Jennings Parks and Recreation Department Mustang and Bronco All-Star tournaments went on as scheduled. Jennings Parks and Recreation Director Brian Benoit and his right-hand man, Darl Watson, and lots of volunteer help worked hard to get the playing fields ready after more than one inch of rain.

The Bronco tournament opened the evening in game one with Rayne defeating the Lydia Tigers, 21-2, in a five-inning affair. Lake Arthur followed in game two, falling to Delcambre by a count of 19-11. Lake Arthur was led at the plate by Tristen Doucet and Kieron Achane with a double and single with both scoring two runs. Clayton Martigh added a double and two runs, and Kegan Landry had a single and touched the plate twice. Luke Benoit and Noah Benoit had a single and both scored a run, and Ben Martain scored once for Lake Arthur.
