Landrieu visits area to honor vets, talk business

Daily News Staff Writer
Many community leaders and local veterans gathered at the Jennings Conference Center on Monday to participate in a special presentation hosted by Sen. Mary Landrieu.
Landrieu presented Joe, Frank, and Calvin Foreman of Iowa with flags that had been flown over the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Landrieu explained that Southwest Louisiana has its own “band of brothers,” highlighting the story of the three brothers plus one other, Hilliard Foreman, just recently passed, who served together during WWII in various units of the military. Good laughs were heard all around when Joe and Calvin admitted that the toughest of all the brothers was Frank, though he is also the smallest. The brothers were referencing the fact that Frank received a Silver Star on two separate occasions during the war.
