Resident Questions Laws

Dear Editor,

If your car is 20 years old or older you do not need seat belts.

The Louisiana State Troopers patrol in our city limits with the excuse of the state highway being a part of the city limits. Well, this is also where they can drink coffee and eat which can assist in ticket writing also.

Jennings has a sheriff’s department, a city police department, and a city marshal. A city to the east eliminated two of these as the sheriff’s department was appointed to cover law enforcement and save thousands.

I often wonder if truck drivers, which are above the eye, wear seat belts or they just driver better.

Safety has become a money hazard as one does not have to wear a helmet in Texas when on a motorcycle. Wearing a helmet should be a choice. We are not Houston.

In my opinion safety belts should not be needed in the city limits where there are signal lights, speeding signs, and stop signs that keep traffic at a low speed which is not a death deal or speeding ticket, or is it all about money?

This is also a walking path to shopping centers. I wonder if wearing orange is next.

All the above now has transferred to the water ways. Game wardens have caught on to this money scheme. Wear orange, bob up, not down with a license and life jacket or get fined.
