LA town council discusses budget

Daily News Staff Writer

Lake Arthur –  Acquiring federal funding and amending the budget were the issues discussed at Lake Arthur’s city council meeting on Wednesday.

The council voted to continue to seek federal funding through the 2014-2015 Louisiana Community Development Block Grant Program for improvements on the towns sewage system. The council approved a motion to retain Aucoin and Associates, Inc. for administering and engineering services as well as drafting the application for the grant. According to its website, the program is structured “to provide assistance to local governments in non-entitlement areas for the development of viable communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income. Non-entitlement areas are municipalities with a population of less than 50,000 and parishes with an unincorporated population of less than 200,000.”
