President excuses local student from school

Daily News Staff Report

A 5-year-old Hathaway High School student had to miss three days of school last week, but she’s coming home with a pretty good excuse – signed by United States President Barack Obama.

Alanah Poullard, along with her parents, U.S. Army Major Yolanda Wise Poullard and Rev. Dr. Stacy Poullard, accepted a tour of The White House on Thursday. Yolanda Poullard, formerly of Silverwood and a graduate of Jennings High School, served in Afghanistan and is a “Wounded Warrior”. She received an invitation to tour The White House along with other Wounded Warriors, but it was her daughter, Alanah, who received some special treatment during their visit.
