Candidates voice goals at local forum

Daily News Staff Writer

Looking toward the upcoming elections for the Jennings City Council on Oct. 19, voters from districts A and D gathered together at the American Legion Hall Friday to hear their candidates’ ideas and goals for the upcoming term. The forum, organized by the Jeff Davis Parish Democratic Party Executive Committee, consisted of a five minute speech from each candidate on their personal and community-wide goals if elected to the office followed by a question and answer session with candidates fielding questions from the audience.

Two candidates from District D were unable to attend the forum. The incumbent, Anthony “Coach” Leblanc was unable to be present due to work but asked Bill Henry to make an address in the first segment for the forum on Leblanc’s behalf. Henry acknowledged the good intentions of Leblanc and gave a list of his credentials and successful projects that occurred in the duration of his previous time in office.  Janet M. Jones was unable to attend for unspecified reasons.
