Community asked for continued support of annual JFD barbecue fundraiser

Daily News Editor

After putting out fires all year long, the Jennings Fire Department (JFD) plans to start one next weekend to raise funds for new equipment.

Volunteers will be lighting up the pit on Saturday, Nov. 9, for the Jennings Fireman’s Association’s annual barbecue dinner fundraiser. According to JFD Lt. Shawn O’Quinn, tickets are currently being sold for the event for $9 each and can be purchased at the JFD Central Station at 110 North Broadway Street in Jennings (821-5507) or from any local firefighter. The dinners can be picked up from Jennings Elementary School’s Cafeteria between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. Dinners include either chicken or brisket, with potato salad, baked beans and bread. Local firemen, their spouses and friends will once again serve as this year’s grill masters.
