Delcia Jones Williams

Funeral service for Delcia Jones Williams, 89, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, in St. Paul Baptist Church in Jennings. Rev. Pernell Trent will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday in the church.
Mrs. Williams died on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at 8:33 a.m. in her residence.
A lifelong resident of Jennings, she was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church where she was the oldest member of the church; served as president of the Mission; and also served on the Usher Board for over 30 years. She recently celebrated her 89th birthday with her mission sisters. She was a graduate of Lamar University in Algebra and a volunteer Pink Lady at the American Legion Hospital.
She leaves to cherish her memories eight daughters, Laura Nixon, Marva Williams, Yolanda Pursley, Deetta Alexander, Jennifer Adams, Paula Barker, Belva Williams and Shawn Williams-Smith; two sons, Carl and Vertis Williams; 30 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; 21 great great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
