LAKE ARTHUR – The family and friends of Lilly May Riquelmy are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life and embraced in the arms of Jesus on Oct. 28, 2013, at the beautiful age of 99.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at 10 a.m. with Father Charles McMillin officiating her services. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery.

The Riquelmy family requests visiting hours be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Lake Arthur beginning today, Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, from 4-8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass.

Mrs. Lilly May was born in Lake Arthur on June 7, 1914, to Theodore Joseph Monlezun and Blanche Blanchard Monlezun. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her husband, Herbert ”Bootsi” Riquelmy, and to raising their four children. Mrs. Lilly May was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur. She was a faithful parishioner of her Catholic faith and a living example of God’s grace to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, reading and word puzzles. She was so dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Lilly May is survived by her children, Barbara Riquelmy of Pineville, Lillian (Carl) Benoit of Jennings, Anita (Robert) Landry of Andrus Cove, and Milton Riquelmy and Paula Winegarner of Jennings; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Monlezun of Houston, Texas.

Mrs. Lilly May now rests in Heaven with her beloved husband, Herbert “Bootsi” Riquelmy; her parents, Theodore and Blanche Monlezun; and her three brothers, Milton, J.T. “Jr.” and Louis J. Monlezun.

Carrying Mrs. Lilly May to her eternal resting place will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
