West Nile on the decline

The rise in mosquito populations has been painfully noticeable in recent weeks. Along with the seasonal rains, standing water and flooded rice fields have made pristine breeding grounds for these vampire insects. But, for the experts in mosquito control, the population spike is controllable, and West Nile Virus is on the decline.

Glen Stokes Jr. with Acadia Parish Mosquito Control reassured that the rise in recent populations is a seasonal trend and is species specific.
